Daily Report: Chicken With A Trunk Day Special

Thai lesson for the day: Turkey is ไก่งวง, "gai nguang", or "chicken with a trunk."

Today, it was off to Bob's Barbeque with Willie, Kak and all the kids for Thanksgiving dinner. Bob smokes his turkeys up on the roof of his restaurant in his big smoker, and that makes for surpringly tasty turkey. In addition, he made cornbread stuffing, a broccoli-rice casserole, a greenbean casserole, mashed potatoes, gravy, ham, pumpkin pie, et cetera, et cetera.

I guess my only complaint was paying 300 baht for Pot to have dinner, and the little peckerwood only ate 2 bites of food in between running around with Steve's sons, Bobby and Kevin. At $4 a bite, I won't be taking him to Thanksgiving dinner again next year. Oh well.

As per usual, the ladies sat at one table, and talked about their own thing in their own language, while the guys sat at another table, and did likewise.

It was really a good time, as many of my friends were there, and regardless I knew everyone at least in passing.

Unfortunately, no football games on TV to watch before or after dinner. Next year, we'll have to convice a couple of teams to play a 6:00 a.m. game just for us fans on the other side of the world.
