Hank Speaks

Henry Kissinger has said that the United States cannot win the war in Iraq, but that immediate withdrawal would be a disaster for Iraq.

I agree 100%. There is nothing the American army can do anymore to "fix" Iraq.

I like my airplane anaology: Iraq is an airliner that is on fire and going down quickly. President Bush is insisting the flames aren't that bad, and that we should fly Iraq onwards to its final destination, but that is simply not going to happen. Instead, America needs to find a nice flat area in which to crash land Iraq and hopefully minimize casualties and damage.

And yes: America does have a parachute, and can bail out on Iraq at any time, but that doesn't help the airliner's Iraqi passengers very much. America has a moral obligation to... well... dissappoint the Iraqis as litle as possible, and leave them in as peaceful a hell-hole as possible.

I leave the details of how to do that to people more knowledgeable about that kind of thing than myself.
