Think back 200 years go to England. There, out of a nation of millions, probably 500 people owned half the wealth. In all of Czarist Russia, for every million people, there were probably a dozen people who owned half the wealth.
If you expand that to worldwide, factoring in Africa, South America, and even pre-industrial revolution America, then it would probably be accurate to say that 5,000 people (out of 500 million) on the planet... or 1/1000%... owned half the wealth.
So things are looking up all you poor folks out there! In another 200 years, the number will probably be approaching the likes of 5% or 10% of the total population.
