Daily Report: Traffic Ticket Torment Tradeoff

Up at the usual time, worked the usual amount before lunch.

For lunch, I met up with Justin and Glen at Valentino's... the Italian restaurant right across from the back entrance to Foodland. I had a calzone which was really good. (Two years ago I had had a calzone there, and it wasn't very good, so this is their reprieve.)

On the way home from the restaurant, I got pulled over by the police for making an illegal right turn across Sukhumvit Road. I wouldn't otherwise, because it isn't very nice — but being behind in my work, I needed to get back to my desk — I called Pui down on my other motorcycle to where I was detained, and put her in charge of sorting out the ticket (which, from experience, takes an hour or so), while I drove on home and got back to work.

She really is my biggest little helper. I got in another 2½ hours of work before dinner with her taking charge for me.

This evening, Pui and I (and Pot) got together with Stan and Mem at Rua Mai ("The Wooden Boat") on Sukhumvit road for dinner. Stan and I sat right next to the fish pond and Stan (who knows approximately the equivalent of a doctorate in fishology) told me all about each of the fish swimming past, including one particular fish which couldn't actually breathe underwater.

From there, it was off to Rick's bar, where I had a beer and chatted with Rick and Justin. And then off to home for bedtime.

So the score for today is: Almost half a day (new day) of work, which is a net loss considering that I had planned to accomplish something more than that. Tomorrow is my last chance to get a good day in before the pay period ends.
