The New Tourist Visa Rules, Once And For All

From Untamed-Travel.com, an interview with one of the head honchos at immigration, Colonel Suppachai:
[He] reassured concerned visa-runners that there would be no limit on the number of tourist visas issued, which allow visitors to stay for 60 days, extendable by 30 days for a total of 90. Do the math: Anyone can get two tourist visas, two extensions and six visa-exemptions a year and stay in Thailand for 12 months.
So there it is, three 30-day VOA visas (30+30+30) which can be obtained at any point of entry into Thailand, and then one 90-day visa (60+30), which can only be obtained at a Thai embassy outside of Thailand. And then repeat the process over again as often as you want.

I will add that my friend Rick said "don't forget though, it is always up to the person at the consulate as to whether or not they are going to follow the rules and issue a visa." True enough, but at least now there can be no doubt what the rules actually are.

Also, remember... for those of you who really want to avoid a hassle, there is always Thailand Elite.
UPDATE

Actually, I did think of one little thing: ((30+30+30) + (60+30)) x 2 = 360... not 365. Therefore, if you want to do your visas in this fashion, you do have to stay outside of Thailand for 2 or 3 days each time you go to get a 90-day visa in order to make it a complete 6 months. Other than that, there are no problems.

Personally though, I think I'm just going to give up on the 30-day visas from now on, and fly up to Vientienne once every 3 months to take care of this... at least until I get a job / work permit in Thailand.
