Another Sunday In Thailand

Today was the Jesters Care for Kids Charity Fair, put on by the Jesters Motorcycle Club of Pattaya. It was a hot day, but the fair was well-attended as far as I could see. It was held at the Diana Driving Range in North Pattaya. It's an annual event that is becoming more and more popular each year, raising thousands of dollars for children's charities around Thailand.

However, it was really hot... probably 95ยบ in the shade, so most of the people were hanging out in the relative comfort of the lounging area nursing a beer. Can't say I blame them really. Funny though: The people that were complaining most about the heat were the Thai people... or at least Thai ladies, who think that staying 5 minutes in the sun will give them a god-awful tan, and therefore making them only slightly more attractive than chimpanzees. (No... I'm serious.)

Bob, of Bob's Bar-BBQ had a booth set up, which was the principal reason why I stopped by. Steve (of TQ2 and Mermaids) was hanging out there as well. Bob's frozen margarita machine wasn't able to keep ahead of the heat, so his strawberry, raspberry, and pineapple margaritas were being served on the rocks. Still good though in the heat.

Anyway, there were lots of stands for games, local businesses (especially motorcycle / Harley businesses) selling their wares, and local pubs and restaurants. There were clowns and kids galore, and children-centric events going off every 5 minutes, such as the 3-legged race.

Yes... it is days like this that it is fun to be a farang in Thailand, when you see the thousands of other people like you hanging out, having a good time, farang kids running around, old farang grandparents, and young farang parents... You really fell like you are a part of a community.
