Are You Mad Yet? No? See If This Helps.

Yesterday, President Bush toured the infamous 17th Street levee, and had his photo taken in front of equipment buzzing and humming and fixing and repairing and doing everything the president promised.

Today, Senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana issued this angry press release:
But perhaps the greatest disappointment stands at the breached 17th Street levee. Touring this critical site yesterday with the President, I saw what I believed to be a real and significant effort to get a handle on a major cause of this catastrophe. Flying over this critical spot again this morning, less than 24 hours later, it became apparent that yesterday we witnessed a hastily prepared stage set for a Presidential photo opportunity; and the desperately needed resources we saw were this morning reduced to a single, lonely piece of equipment. The good and decent people of southeast Louisiana and the Gulf Coast - black and white, rich and poor, young and old - deserve far better from their national government.

President Bush yesterday in a hangar in Biloxi, Mississippi, chimed in about the upside of the destruction:

"The good news is - and it's hard for some to see it now - that out of this chaos is going to come a fantastic Gulf Coast, like it was before," said Bush, then invoking the name of a storm-stricken senator. "Out of the rubbles of Trent Lott's house - he's lost his entire house - there's going to be a fantastic house. And I'm looking forward to sitting on the porch."

The day AFTER the hurricane struck, Secretary of State Condi Rice started her vacation in New York where she was seen buying $5,000 worth of shoes at Ferragamo on Fifth Avenue.

The day AFTER the hurricane struck, Vice President Dick Cheney was still on vacation.

But best of all? While the flood waters were rising and people were dying and New Orleans was slowly being destroyed? What was President Bush doing in California the day AFTER the hurricane struck?

Nice fiddle... er... guitar, eh?

Seriously though people: President Bush doesn't care about you. President Bush cares about President Bush, the people around him, and the people that are wealthy and powerful enough to help him out and help him look better... and that's really about it.

Oh... One more for you.

Guess who got the cleanup and repair contract for the destroyed military assets in New Orleans?

C'mon... this isn't that hard to figure out.

Haliburton of course.
