Daily Report: A Jeep Night Out

I didn't work today... unless you count putting two coats of wax on a motorcycle in 115º heat as work.

In the afternoon, Pui and I went over to Stan and Mem's house along with Mick and his wife, Mat. We left the girls behind to cook fish that Stan and Mick had caught the day earlier, while the guys went out in Mick's Jeep for a day on the town.

First we went to a new bar on Thappraya Road, called Soho, and met up with another of our friends, Mark. We stuck around Soho drinking all afternoon. Then from there, it was over to The Jade House for a couple more drinks. After that, we drove down to Soi 6 to The Sportsman for dinner, and then back to Stan's house for more drinks.

Home by 11:00, and in bed shortly thereafter.

Jil,
How does your friend like having his jeep?
Would you ever think about buying one for there?
thanks,
Fky

He likes it a lot, and swears he won't get back on a motorcycle now that he has his Jeep.

Personally, I think that as far as cars go, it is as good a car as you can hope for in Pattaya... but still not as good as a motorcycle when it comes to getting anywhere in a reasonable amount of time.

If I were driving out of town to the beach or mountains two or three times a week, I'd have a Jeep. If I were driving 15 or 20 kilometers every day, I'd have a car with a roof though. (The sun/rain factor comes into play with the open-air / no-door Jeep.

but how far do we really drive there?
and if it is 'far', hire a driver right?
Anyway, my friend has a line on a cheap jeep; I may buy it.

It's cheap until you realize that the tires that will fit on these Jeep are not made anymore... except by one company who charges 10,000 baht (or more) per tire.
