Daily Report: Bachelor Party

I was up at a pretty good time, and worked through until noontime... just under 1,000 lines. I spent the afternoon putting together the Thai lesson below, which was a bit frustrating but satisfying in the end.

Mike's Riza is in the Philippines, my Pui is in Petchabuhn, Rick's Da is in Vientiane, and Stan's Mem is in Khorat... so what do 4 bachelors do when the women are on vacation, and we're left alone in a town with 1,000 bars, 10,000 bar girls, and 100,000 ways to get in trouble?

We all go to Bob's Wednesday bar-be-que special of course.

Pui left for Petchabun on Friday with 6,000 baht worth of the special skin-care soap that has been selling like hotcakes here in Pattaya. Pui can't understand why she can't sell any of her 300-baht soap up in Petchabun. I explained to her the difference between people who make 200,000 baht a month and people who make 20,000 baht a month... and who can afford 300-baht soap... and that most of the people who can afford 300-baht soap live in our neighborhood... not next door to rice fields in Isaan. She seemed to feel better about things then, realizing that she wasn't actually losing her touch in selling stuff to bored housewives.

She'll be home on Friday... not before I get in some more bar-be-que though.
