No... I'm serious.
This is a bill that, "among other things, bars unmarried people from having children by articifial means".
Republican lawmakers are drafting new legislation that will make marriage a requirement for motherhood in the state of Indiana, including specific criminal penalties for unmarried women who dobecome pregnant "by means other than sexual intercourse."
Yes: Republicans actually wrote these words... with straight faces...
Only women who are married will be considered for the "gestational certificate" that must be presented to any doctor who facilitates the pregnancy. Further, the "gestational certificate" will only be given to married couples that successfully complete the same screening process currently required by law of adoptive parents.
Oh, c'mon people! This is as funny as politics gets! This is so stereotypically what liberals expect conservatives to come up with that I'm seriously considering this is a scam, even though the text of the file is taken from the Indiana congressional website. How can you take Republicans seriously? I mean, Democrats can do stupid stuff, but Republicans using the Bible as a sourcebook for new laws always yields the funniest results.
I would like to remind 50.2% of the American population: Last election, you voted for a political party whose core constituency of religious fanatics, and certain elected officials would like to make it illegal for unmarried people to have children by artificial means.
