Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, who came into office claiming to "drain the swamp" that is Washington, has appointed William "frozen-bribe-money" Jefferson to the Congressional Committee on Homeland Security, shortly after he was kicked off the Ways and Means Committee.
Ms. Pelosi reasoned that the Ways and Means Committee "had something to do with the accusations made against him," his new post does not.Jeebus Crisp lady. Think a little, will ya? If you genuinely believed the guy needed something to do, give him a mop and a bucket and have him do some floors. You want something more reasonable? Have him do $90,000 worth of pro-bono legal work for his Katrina-victim constituents. That would be excellent, and nobody would complain about that.
Nope. Sorry. I don't care that Rep. Jefferson "never was charged" with taking bribes. You're a politician Ms. Pelosi. You should know better than to get elevated to Speaker of the House on a wave of anti-coruption sentiment, and then come within 50 feet of somebody who could be corrupt. It's that simple.
