Just Out Of Curiosity

Why didn't anybody ever try to develop a metric system for time? We have it for everything else.

I mean, you can't change the number of days in a year, but what about 10 hours in a day (10 decidays), 100 minutes in an hour (100 milidays), and 100 seconds in a minute (100 microdays)? That would make a metric second very close to a current second... about 0.85 of a second, actually.

Imagine what a simple thing it would be converting kilometers per hour into centimeters per second. Figuring out things like payroll hours and cooking times for turkeys would be a cinch. The dreaded "two trains leave from Chicago" math question would be so much easier. Figuring out the length of a plane flight by only knowing the departure and arrival times could be done in your head.

Well, I'm all for changing over right now. Are you with me world?
