It's once again time for the Pattaya International Music Festival to kick off here in Fun City. Last year's draw of 250,000 people probably will not be beaten this year, as it looks like the event is going to be scaled down and limited to a single venue, with only 2 stages, instead of spread all over Pattaya with 5 stages as in past years.
This event is really more for the Thai people, as most of the acts are Thai, with the majority remaining bands and singers from other parts of Asia. (As per usual, there is no website that I can find listing the acts at the moment, so I am only going on last year's lineup.)Anyway (if this year's event is anything like last year's event), you will be able to avoid the crowds and rowdy teenagers by tuning into the live simulcast on UBCThailand's satellite cable network.. (Sorry... you'll have to surf until you find it.) Tata YoungThai-American singer, model and actress. A Thai superstar at age 15, she became an international success with the release of her first English-language album I Believe in 2004. She remains one of the most popular performers in Thailand, and is a perennial "favorite" pick by magazines and music-video channels. (Source: Wikipedia) is scheduled to appear as always. If you want to attend in person, the festival is now out in Jomtien. Special baht busses can get you there.
