Update On Russian Murder Case: Arrest Made

Spidey was right: "The man" does read my blog... and after reading it, the police promptly raised the anemic 100,000 baht reward that they offered for the murderer of those two Russian ladies to 500,000 baht.

Almost like magic, the killer's girlfriend came forward and turned him in. Let's hope they arrested the right guy... confession notwithstanding.

Once again, ThaiVisa.com readers: I am sorry to inform you that it was not a mob hit either. I know you're upset. That's okay though: There will be more chances for you to exercise your blame-the-victim mob mentality in the future, I'm sure.

Besides, it looks like the police are pursuing the possibility that these murders may have been a contract killing by a jealous Thai woman. That's something, right? The Russian women obviously did something wrong to get assassinated, right?

So anyway, it turns out that the killer was a well-known criminal who has a long history of crimes against tourists, and was out on bail for another robbery when he committed the murders.

p.s. This CNN article describes Pattaya as "notorious as an international criminals' haven". I like that. It makes me feel all tough and manly like a fat, caucasian Coolio.
