The Mayor of Pattaya is an office that is roughly equivalent, politically, to being the Mayor of Chicago or the Mayor of Miami in America... a pretty important post on the national scene.Therefore, I really have to wonder what the Mayor was thinking when he went out to Soi Siam Country Club, confronted a motorcycle taxi driver who had assaulted a member of his staff, and personally escorted the taxi driver to the police station in his car.
Well, now the taxi driver is alleging that he was manhandled by the Mayor, and is demanding an apology.
Lesson for the day: Sometimes it's politically beneficial to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty dealing with the grunt work and going into the streets to defend the common man, and sometimes it's not. Guess which time this was?
