Daily Report: Rainy Day

I was out of bed early, but that is mostly because Poopy Cat was out on the roof in the rain making a racket and I had to get up and let her in, just to find out she was soaking wet... and then she climbed into bed and wanted to snuggle with my feet. Cold wet cat on warm bedtime toes wakes you up real quick, in case you didn't know.

Actually, it rained all day today — a rare thing for Thailand. Usually in Thailand, the skies open up, drop 4 or 5 inches of rain in 20 minutes to an hour, and then that's all the rain you will see for the day. Today, instead, it drizzled or spit throughout the day, sometimes almost stopping, but never completely.

I was out with Pui at lunch time today to pay some bills, and we went to the finance center where she pays for the motorcycle that she gave to her parents up in Petchabun... a little Honda Wave that cost around 35,000 baht ($1,000). I had never realized the usurious situation Pui had gotten herself into with this motorcycle. I had been paying 2,250 a month for the past year, thinking that we had to be almost finished with payments. Not even close: It's a 30-month schedule... which works out to almost 70,000 baht all told. That's criminal... really it is.

In the evening, it was out with Mike to Rick's bar for a couple of beers. Pui went over to Stan and Mem's because Mem is now trying her hand at being an at-home beautician, and Pui always has to be the first to volunteer her money to one of Mem's ideas.

Home by 9:30... and now I'm off to read my book for a bit before going to sleep.
