Expect The Worst

The reason Thailand still blocks YouTube is because even though YouTube removed videos that insulted the king of Thailand, when you search YouTube, a "thumbnail" of the video (deleted or not) still shows up, which contains offensive images.

Combine that knowledge with this news:
Google Inc. said on Wednesday it is combining its different Web search services into one "Universal Search" service that will present Web sites, news, video and other results on one page.

The combined search includes any site indexed by Google's services. On the video side, for example, it will include YouTube, Google Video and independent sites like Metacafe.com.
We here in Thailand can survive without YouTube... barely; can we survive without Google as well?

I work in the city, right on the corner of 23rd Street and Seventh Avenue. You’ll probably read that and think, “Oh, okay. I know the corner. I know the neighborhood. Not bad,” and you’d be right for thinking that considering there isn’t anything major about the corner march madness of 23rd Street and Seventh Avenue meaning it’s just a common intersection, right? It’s not like saying, “Hey, I work on the corner of Collister and Beach Streets in the West Village,” which would leave everyone scratching their heads considering I’ve been living in NYC my entire life and I have no clue where Collister and Beach Streets are.

BANGKOK, Apr 19 - When the Thai government imposed an emergency law cracking down on rampaging red-shirted protesters on the streets of Bangkok, sportsbook the military, in combat gear, was not its only weapon. The state’s censors were given liberty to silence critical media.
