The Luckiest Day

I was lying in bed tonight before going to sleep thinking, "Ya know, you've got a quarter-million baht necklace, 2 diamond rings, and 100,000 baht in cash in the nighttable next to you, and you're going to sleep with all the doors unlocked. Your luck is going to run out."

As a result of that thought, I got out of bed, unplugged my 20,000 baht cell phone from its charger in my office, picked up my exceptionally valuable pool cues from the living room, put the pool cues in my closet, and the phone with my other valuables inside the night table, locked my bedroom door and windows and went to sleep.

As a result, the burglars only made off with my worthless $10 zip drive and 189 baht in cash on my office desk before moving on to my neighbor's house where Rangsima's security guard scared them off.

Anyway, doors are all closed now. Tomorrow, I'm hiring a second security guard. Thinking about buying a dog as well. Both the neighbor and I agree it was just local kids looking for quick shit to grab, and not serious thieves, as my DVD player and computers, his stereo and web servers — and other things that were actually worth grabbing, albeit large — were not taken.

Hell: They didn't even take my bottle of Johnny Walker Gold.

Amateurs.
UPDATE

They also stole my 25 and 50-satang coin collection (Thailand's lowest value coin, but shiny and brass and pretty when in a pile) worth about 2 dollars, but left the rosewood and mahogany jewelry box I had been keeping them in.
