New Seven Wonders Of The World Without Angkor

I'll start off by saying that an even greater travesty is that the Eiffel Tower was beaten out by the Christ The Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. (I've visited both, and I think it's no comparison.) But second greatest of the faults in the new list is for Rome's Colosseum to beat out Angkor Wat.

It's probably simply because it was a public vote, and very few people know about Angkor Wat in comparison to the Colosseum... although the Chichen Itza pyramid and Petra aren't particularly well-known either.

Also, the Pyramids of Giza aren't on the list... although that might be due to confusion about whether the list is "an additional 7 wonders", or a "replacement 7 wonders"... so it's hard to judge that omission.

I can't find any vote tallies anywhere to determine how close Angkor came to being included but at least the place was nominated.

The final 7:
The Great Wall of China
Petra in Jordan
Brazil's statue of Christ the Redeemer
Peru's Machu Picchu
Mexico's Chichen Itza pyramid
The Colosseum in Rome
India's Taj Mahal
