Bangkok Is World's Third Best City

The title of the article here is "Bangkok Named Third World's Best City", to which my initial thought was, "being the best city in the Third World is like being the best trailer park in Nebraska."

However, as I have discovered here, Bangkok is actually the third best city in the world, as ranked by "Travel and Leisure Magazine", coming in behind Florence (1st) and Buenos Aires (2nd). That's decidedly cool. (Here is the corresponding article about Bangkok that goes with the award.)

Additionally, The Oriental in Bangkok is the third best hotel on the planet (and best in the world for under $250 per night), and The Peninsula in Bangkok is the twelfth best hotel on the planet. The Four Seasons Resort up north in Chiang Mai comes in at #20 in the world, and is ranked the best hotel spa in Asia. The Four Seasons Hotel in Bangkok came in at #46 in the world, and the Shangri La at #89. Of the 50 top hotels in all of Asia, 12 of them are in Thailand.

Phuket was ranked the 8th best island in the world, Thai Airways is the #5 airline in the world. Chiang Mai was listed as third best city in Asia, and surprisingly, Siem Reap in Cambodia came in at #9.

Unfortunately, Pattaya didn't seem to make the list of World's Best Cities. I'll have to look into that and see what caused this quite obvious oversight.
