Pattaya Creating Artificial Reefs

The local government and economy has been spending a lot of time promoting the "underwater aspect" of Pattaya tourism. They have sunk ships to create wrecks and reefs, have built submarines to explore the depths, and are now placing concrete pipes on the sea bed to foster coral and encourage sea life.

Whether these are magical cement pipes that will absorb garbage, diesel oil, runoff sediment, and human waste... and cleanse the water back to its natural state is another question entirely.

Don't see how this is going to help divers, as they're so close to shore. But hey, more fish is never a bad thing.
