Today is the King of Thailand's 80th birthday, a very special and important holiday here. The entire country is celebrating their monarch. All businesses and bars are closed, and fireworks are going to light the sky tonight.
As I always say, King Bhumibol is a person who deserves the highest respect because he has given a lifetime of working solely and specifically for the betterment of his country and his people. So Happy Birthday to the King. Let's wish him well.

Having visited Thailand twice during the celebrations for the King's birthday, I am still in awe at the respect all Thais show for their monarch regardless of their lot in life. As frail as he now is, it would be a loss to the world to lose this gentle soul any time soon. Long live the King!
