Princess And King Both Recognized For Talent

Princess Sirivannavari is a fashion
designer and loves to play badminton.
Princess Sirivannavari is the grandaughter of King Bhumibol. She is a 20-year-old fashion designer in Bangkok, and is interested in showcasing Thai silk to the fashion industry. Recently, she was given that chance by having her show sponsored by the couturier, House of Balmain, in Paris.

She is also an excellent badminton player, playing on the national badminton team and helping Thailand win a gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games in 2005. Little else is known about Princess Sirivannavari, because in Thailand it is highly improper (especially for people who work with the monarchy) to discuss the personal lives of royalty. However, everyone obviously hopes she succeeds in her professional goal of making Thai silk a more popular material among the great fashion houses of the world.

One of His Majesty's inventions: The
Chaipattana Low Speed Aerator, is used
in Thailand to replace oxygen in water.
In other news, the 84 member countries of the International Federation of Inventors Association declared February 2nd to be "World's Inventor's Day" in honor of the date on which King Bhumibol received the patent on his low-speed aerator (read about it here), which is used to aerate stagnant water. The king is famous worldwide for his many inventions like this one.
