Bob's BBQ has a standing offer for anyone interested, called The Wagon Wheel Challenge. If you can eat one of Bob's Wagon Wheel Burgers (about 3 pounds total weight, price range 400 to 500 baht depending on toppings) including the french fries in under 45 minutes, Bob will put your name on the Wagon Wheel Hall of fame (a plaque on the wall of his restaurant), put your picture on his website, and knock half the price off your burger.
I had never seen anybody successfully complete one of these monstrous 8-inch burgers in under 45 minutes, though I have witnessed several attempts. However, today, this fellow in the photo came in and took the challenge. (To give you an idea of this man's size, Bob is about 5-foot-10.) This guy ate a 3-pound hamburger (with bacon and cheese) — and a big serving of french fries — in 9½ minutes! That's the equivalent of eating a McDonald's quarter pounder every 45 seconds... not including the time spent on eating the french fries.
Anyway, this record may not be broken for a while, but you are still free to stop by and take the Wagon Wheel Challenge whenever you want.

Hi Jil, it looks like Bob's world record big burger has been outsized...
http://www.usatoday.com/news/offbeat/2008-02-23-big-burger_N.htm
Jeez that guy is f*king huge !!! That 3 LB burger was probably just an appetizer. Wouldn't wanna get on his bad side.
Gary:
Yes... actually those folks beat the people who just recently beat Bob (Denny's Beer Barrel Pub, of Clearfield, Pa.) whose 20-pound burger was the one that Bob originally beat for the record.
I think it is kind of becoming a been-there-done-that kind of record. Bob started the mega-giant burger by going from 20 pounds to 80 pounds, and now each successive person has just added on a larger beef patty. Heck: Everybody since Bob is using all of Bob's tricks that he invented when he made his burger.
(Also, the fact that the bun weighs 50 pounds makes me wonder if it is even edible, which is a requirement to be a World Record. The burger itself is not that much larger than Bob's.)
Kind of a bummer that this big burger got coverage by USA Today, and a front-page video on CNN.com, while Bob managed to get a paragraph or two in the Nagasaki Times.
Ding, if I were to guess, he was about 6-foot-10 and 380 pounds.
That is one ugly dude. (The Good 'Ol Boy, not Bob.) I'd hate to see his toilet the next morning.
C'mon Anon... that's not a very nice thing to say, especially about somebody who outweighs you by a few hundred pounds. ;-)
Actually, he was a nice guy from (I believe) Texas, and had a really nice group of friends with him as well. Fun folks.
Hope he is enjoying life now before the heart attack gets him!
Jill, email me your email address as my blogger page knocked you out when I reset it (unless you find my blog hideously borish!)
Hey Jil, do you remember that guys name. He looks just like an old friend of mine name Matt.
from Jakal
I had one of those burgers a couple of years ago when he was by the circle. I ordered it by mistake,I remember looking at it when they brought it out and saying WTF is that!!! It took up the whole plate!! LOL
I was only able to eat 1/4 of it.
That dude looks like a guy who used to drive a truck here, we called him Eclips.
Entertaining blog Jil. I originally found it due to a link regarding the debacle at TQ2. You and I must have been in Bob's at the same time. I was sitting one table away from the guy in the post, using my laptop. I am pretty sure he did not finish in 9 1/2 minutes though. I think it was 35.5 minutes--in other words, 9 1/2 minutes before the time limit was up. He and his friends did seem like nice guys, although I think he was closer to 6'6" than 6'10". If anything, 380lbs is a low guess. I used to have a roommate who was 6'3", 366lbs and this guy dwarfs him.
I once ate a 32oz steak at my local steak house on what they call a "crazy steak night" It was the biggest they had on the menu and I got to take the plate and knife and fork home... BUT that is nothing compared to what these guys are doing... I'm gonna pay em a visit on my next trip to Pattaya and give it a go!!
I'm gonna give this a whirl when I get back to Patts in a weeks time... I'm staying at a nearby soi so the walk back wont be too difficult!
fat fucking loser, these bums that live in thailand and marry thai whores and support there nigger peasant familys need shooting.get with the program.fuck em flick em then go home.thais are coward scum.small brained monkeys that should never be trusted anytime.
The guy is about 6'4 or 6'5.
He did well but no word here from him.
Sometimes it is not size, it is determination & the burger quality.
I will go try a burger but no challenge for me. I had meat sweats from gorging last month & it was funny but not worth a second visit.
